Joining Dance Team gives students the chance to be
a part of school activities and also fulfills the PE graduation requirement.
Students who have already completed their Physical Education High School
graduation requirement may receive Visual/Performing Arts credit. During
the fall, the Dance Team combines with the Band to perform at school
football games, activities, and competitions. When winter & spring
come, our Dance Team works on their own performing to contemporary music
at competitions, school functions and other events.
You need to attend all three days. You need to wear
clothes you can move around in (workout clothes) and tennis shoes.
At the tryout, you will be judged on:
your ability to perform the routine and skills that
are taught to you;
your ability to work & cooperate with
other students;
your ability to work with the adult & student
leaders;
your current academic grades, attendance,
work habits, & cooperation
Students with a grade point average under
2.0, more than 8 absences from school in a semester,
or with multiple U's in work habits or cooperation on their report
cards are rarely
accepted into the NHHS Dance Team.
If you are accepted, you must agree to the following
items listed below:

Football Games every Friday night from early September through
mid November
approximately 4 or 5 competitions on Saturdays in October,
November, or December
approximately 4 or 5 competitions on
Saturdays in February, March, April, & May
an overnight trip approximately 4 days long to a competition,
probably in April
a number of school activities and community functions that
take place during school hours, lunchtime, evenings and weekends
Appearance & Grooming Standards for Performances
You will be expected to maintain certain appearance & grooming
standards for all performances. While in uniform, at a performance, or any time
we are away from campus as a group, you must:
maintain your hair & nails
in natural colors (this means no greens, blues,
or similar non-natural for any living creature colors)
not wear any jewelry
not have a tattoo that is not completely covered by clothing.
Academic Achievement
You must maintain your eligibility to participate
in extracurricular activities based upon the LAUSD’s
Eligibility Rule. This requires a 2.0 or higher grade point
average in all
classes, including PE,
on your last report card.
You must maintain good attendance and citizenship in your classes
Financial Cost
The cost of your uniform can be paid as a lump sum
all at once OR in
three monthly payments.

The group eats together during Band Camp and before
each football game. The 10 Band Camp meals are $5.00 each. Meals before
football games are
paid in a lump sum with the uniform fee. A vegetarian meal is usually
available.
