Last Friday was truly a crowning moment for the NHHS Instrumental Music Department. They presented a spectacular performance in the school auditorium for the President of CBS Studios, Executive Director of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, and Members of the LA City Cultural Affairs Department. This performance was a thank you for the extremely generous donation of $60,000 in new musical instruments to our department. The televised event included the gifting of a symbolic check, heartfelt speeches and a demonstration of the new instruments.
This donation was made possible by each and every student and parent volunteer who scarified their independence day to work at the CBS July 4th Festival every summer for the past 10 years. There are countless people to thank but first and foremost, we want to thank the president of the CBS Radford Studio, Mr. Michael Klausman and the entire CBS family. Thanks for recognizing the importance of music in our schools and commending the efforts of our students’ community here in North Hollywood! We also want to thank the LA City Cultural Affairs Department, Sandra Reed-Funnell, and John Pederson for working with CBS putting this donation together. To Esther Walker, Executive Director of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, for being a pillar of support for our community and students.
Every summer our music department supplies CBS with over a 100 volunteers to work at the Studio’s Radford lot for this July 4th Fireworks festival. CBS gave this money to us because of you and it has most certainly paid off! Now coordinating all these volunteers has by no means been an easy task and our biggest thanks goes to Jeanie Barton for making this all possible! For the past 10 years, Jeanie has been our lead parent for this event. She is responsible for establishing the relationship with CBS and has always believed in our students and our program. Thanks Jeanie, this donation is because of you!
