LAUSD City Championships

Hope everyone had a relaxing and restful Thanksgiving! Now that the break is over it’s time to focus on the remaining three weeks of the semester including City Champs, the Winter Concert and finals. I encourage each and every student to do their absolute best and earn a well-deserved winter break!



Winter See’s Candies Fundraiser

 Don’t forget to show your appreciation of our music program by taking part in selling See’s Candies & or making a donation! Orders need to be turned in this Wednesday, November 29th.  Please turn in the bottom portion of your order form, along with payment in the See’s envelope provided. Checks can be made out to “NHHS.” Here is an order form if you need an additional copy.



LAUSD City Championships

The Marching Band and Dance Team will have their final performance at 7:30 pm Saturday, December 2nd at East LA City College. This is the biggest competition of the year and we would love to have you join us! Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for students, and $5 for children. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Parking lots are located on west end of the stadium from Bleakwood Ave. & Floral Drive, as well a second lot located in front of the school accessed from Avenida Cesar Chavez Street.

Student Schedule for City Champs:
1:30 pm – Call Time for Dance Team & Loading Committee
2:30 pm – Call Time for long hair Band members
3:15 pm – Call Time for all other Band members
4:15 pm – Buses Depart from NHHS
5:00 pm – Buses Arrive at East LA College
7:30 pm – Performance
8:45 pm – Award Ceremony
10:15 pm – Bus Departs E. LA City College
11:00 pm – Return to NHHS, change out of uniform and unload truck
11:15 / 11:45 pm – Estimated dismissal time 



Winter Concert

 On Thursday, December 7th at 7:00 pm, we will have our Winter Concert in the school auditorium. The concert will feature the String Orchestra, Choir, Jazz Band, and Indoor DrumlineAdditionally, Yamaha Performing Artist Naoko Takada will be making a guest appearance with our orchestra to premiere El Nuevo Tango for String Orchestra & Vibraphone by Saúl Casentino. Tickets are $5 at the door. Hope to see you there!
