On Saturday the Symphony Orchestra put on a stunning performance at the LAUSD Roy Romer Music Festival receiving Unanimous Superior ratings from judicators. Student Spotlight
Congratulations to Drum Major Adam Karelin on his big premiere with the Los Angeles Philharmonic! On March 24th his composition, Constructs, was premiered by the world-class orchestra as part of a culminating project with the LA Phil’s Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program. Adam was one of only four to be accepted into the prestigious year-long program. Students were commissioned to write music based on a work of art they found inspiring. The pieces were programmed alongside Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.  Adam and his colleagues spent the year working with internationally acclaimed composer and Program Director Andrew Norman as well as with LA Phil musicians and guest artists.  Nice work Karelin!
P.S. That’s him in the bottom left Corner.
