Band Camp 2019 is HERE!

Hope everyone had a splendid summer break and is well-rested, ready for a new year. Our 2019 Band Camp begins on August 7 where all band and dance team members will meet and greet our new members and spend the day bonding with one another, instilling a strong foundation for what I’m sure will be another great year for our Band! Lunch will be provided this first day but students should plan on bringing a sack lunch or lunch money every day after. We also recommend students be prepared by bringing the following items:
  • Comfortable athletic/walking shoes – no sandals, please!
  • Water bottle
  • Sun hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Comfortable shirt & shorts
  • Personal instrument (if you have one)
  • Music – See Audition Material / Music Below!
  • A positive attitude & a strong work ethic

Band Camp 411

All new and returning band students including incoming 9th graders are required to attend camp in order to enroll in the program. No preregistration is required, just simply show up! Any student with a scheduling conflict should email Mr. Sharp ASAP. Tryouts are only required for incoming percussion & dance team students. See below for more information!

Audition Material & Band Camp Music

Brass & Woodwind Students:
Brass and woodwind students will have seating auditions during the second week of band camp. Students will be assessed on their tone quality, intonation, rhythm, and musicality. Audition material will include playing scales (chromatic, major & minor) and passages to Intonation Motivation (CLICK HERE to download music). All band students also need to have a copy of the NHHS instrument packet and music to the NHHS Fight Song, NHHS Pep Songs, Daves Songs & the Star-Spangled Banner! Please bring all of this to camp!Percussion Students:
Drumline & Percussion auditions will be on July 29th & 30th from 11am2pm. Auditions are required for all incoming percussion & drumline students. Audition material will include knowledge of scales, rudiments, and our NHHS Drumline & Front Ensemble Warmups. Students will also be evaluated on their work habits and skills learned during Summer Drummers. Audition results will be available on our website by 5pm Wednesday, July 31st.Colorguard Dance Team Students:
Interested in joining the Royal Regiment Colorguard Dance Team? Auditions for the team are on July 29th & 30th from 1:30 – 4:00pm. Auditions are mandatory for all new and returning dance team students. Students who make the team must attend the Colorguard Camp scheduled for August 5th – 16th weekdays from 8am-4pm.

Regiment Council / Leadership Training

Leadership Training will take place in the music room on August 5th & 6th from 10am4pm. All juniors and seniors in band & dance team members, as well as selected sophomores, should attend. We will discuss essential elements creating a positive and productive environment for our team!

Summer 2019

2019 Summer Drummers Camp:

  • July 8 – Aug 1 / Monday – Friday
  • 2pm-5pm
  • Strongly recommended for incoming percussion students

2019-2020 Colorguard / Dance Team Auditions:

  • July 29 & 30 / Must attend both days
  • 1:30pm – 4:00pm
  • Mandatory for all new and returning dance team students

2019-2020 Drumline & Percussion Auditions:

  • July 29 & 30
  • 11am – 2pm
  • Mandatory for all new and returning drumline & percussion students

2019 Summer Band Camp:
