Shakey’s Dine Out Night this Thursday!

Hard to believe but March is practically here and that means our spring performance season is about to begin! The students excited and looking forward to performing all the great repertoire they’ve been working on this semester. Detailed information about these upcoming events is available below! 

Dine Out at Shakey’s February 27th!

Join us next Thursday evening for Dine Out Night at Shakey’s! Simply plan on having dinner at Shakey’s Pizza On Laural Canyon (south of Chandler) anytime between 5pm – 8pm, deposit your receipt in our fundraising shoebox and 25% of the proceeds will go to supporting our music department! It’s a fun, easy and delicious way to show your support for our award-winning music program!!! 

Friday, March 6 • Symphony Orchestra Festival
On Friday, March 6, the Symphony Orchestra students will be performing at the SCSBOA Music Festival at the California School of the Arts in San Gabriel! Their performance will be at 3:45 followed by a sight-reading clinic at 4:15. We are in need of parent volunteers to chaperone and transport instruments with their personal vehicles. Please sign up below to join us for this exciting event!
STUDENT / VOLUNTEER LUNCH Orders! Food is available but must be ordered in advance! Each meal is $5 and will be collected by Mr. Sharp on the day of the event. Chaperones, please submit an order but don’t worry about paying… I’ve got you covered!

  • 11:30am – Call Time for Parent Chaperones Transporting Instruments
  • Period 4 – Call time for All Symphony Orchestra Students
  • 12:30pm Depart from North Hollywood High
  • 1:30pm Arrive & eat lunch
  • 2:30pm Unload Instruments
  • 3:15pm Warm-up
  • 3:45pm Performance 
  • 4:15pm Sight Reading Clinic
  • 4:45pm Load instruments
  • 5:30pm Depart from California School of the Arts
  • 6:30pm Return to North Hollywood HS & Unload instruments
  • 7:00pm Estimated Dismissal Time

Saturday, March 7 • Symphonic Band Festival
On Saturday, March 7, the Symphonic Band students will be performing at the LAUSD Instructional Music Summit at Van Nuys Middle School! Their performance will be at 10:00am! We are also in need of parent chaperones for this event so if you were unable to attend the Friday festival please sign up for this one!

  • 7:00 am – Bus 1 Departs for Van Nuys MS
  • 7:45 am – Bus 2 Departs for Van Nuys MS
  • 8:30 am – Registration
  • 9:00 am – Active Listening #1
  • 9:30 am – Warm-up
  • 10:00 am – Performance
  • 10:30 am – Active Listening #2
  • 11:00 am – Load instruments
  • 11:15 am – Bus 1 Departs Van Nuys MS
  • 11:45 am – Bus 2 Departs Van Nuys MS
  • 12:30 pm – Estimated Dismissal Time

Friday, March 13 • Spring Instrumental Music Concert!
Our Spring Instrumental Music Concert is scheduled for Friday, March 13th at 7 pm in the Auditorium! The concert will feature our Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band & the Advanced Jazz Band Combo. Tickets are $5 at the door and free for all music alumni and middle school students (with student ID).

Parent Volunteer Needed for our Band Photo Project! 

We will be moving into a new interim music room this semester! As a result, we doing some serious spring cleaning. Unfortunately, there won’t be room on the walls for all our band & dance team pictures from the past 25 years. However, the plan is to digitize all the pictures and put together a photo album of everything. If there is a parent who has the time and knows how to get this done, please let me know! Any costs associated with the project can be covered by the music department.Email Mr. Sharp if interested!
